About Havells
Qimat Rai Gupta began his business journey in 1958 by trading electrical goods in Delhi. In 1971, he acquired the Havells brand from Haveli Ram Gandhi. The brand’s name came from its original owner, but under Qimat Rai Gupta it developed into a much larger Indian electrical business.
The company expanded from trading into manufacturing and entered different product categories. It built a wide dealer and distribution network, helping Havells products reach homes, shops, offices, factories, and construction projects across India.
Today, Havells manufactures cables and wires, switches, circuit-protection equipment, fans, lighting products, motors, water heaters, kitchen appliances, grooming appliances, and other electrical goods. Through Lloyd, it also sells air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, and televisions.
Havells owns several recognised brands, including Havells, Havells Studio, Lloyd, Havells Crabtree, Standard Electricals, and REO. Its manufacturing facilities are located across India, while exports and overseas businesses give it an international presence.

Why Is Havells Considered an Indian Company?
Havells is considered Indian because its modern business was built in Delhi by Indian entrepreneur Qimat Rai Gupta. It is incorporated in India, headquartered in Noida, controlled by an Indian promoter group, and listed on Indian stock exchanges.
Acquiring the Havells brand from another Indian businessman does not make it foreign. Similarly, international subsidiaries, exports, and overseas sales do not change the company’s Indian origin.
Havells combines Indian ownership with domestic manufacturing, research, distribution, and management. From a Delhi trading shop to a major electrical-goods group, its development has remained closely connected with India. It is therefore described as an Indian multinational company with a growing global presence.
